365 South Texas Details, Deadline, and FAQs
THE PLAYS
There are 365 plays - one play for each day of the year. The plays range in length from one page to five pages. Your plays will be provided for you once you have committed to a week of performance. Suzan-Lori Parks wrote three additional short plays that exist outside of the 365 play cycle. They are "The Constants." You can perform one, two or all three of The Constants in your week. You can choose to include all three at every performance or one at a single performance - whatever seems appropriate to your vision of your week. As different artists and companies present their individual weeks throughout the year, The Constants will be shared by all.
RESPONSIBILITIES
If you would like to participate in 365 Days/365 Plays, you will be assigned dates to perform your week's worth of plays. REMEMBER: We are not producing your show. You will be responsible for all aspects of the production for your week including but not limited to: all costs related to your presentation, all physical elements, staffing and casting, ticketing, production, etc.
VENUE/SPACE
The plays can be performed in non-traditional theater space such as a park, a church hall, or a backyard. If you would like to perform in a traditional theater space, but do not have your own performing space, please let us know and we will make an effort to find you a venue.
PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
The festival will take place from November 13, 2006 to November 12, 2007. Each week starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday. Participants can create the performance schedule within their given week. For example, you may choose to perform all seven plays Friday-Sunday or do one play a day, etc. The possibilities are limitless; the only requirement is that each play is performed at least once within its week.
BOX OFFICE AND TICKETING
At your performance venue, tickets must either be free to the public or "Suggested Donation" at the door. You can determine the "Suggested Donation" level and any ticket revenue is yours to keep.
